KATHMANDU: Tata Harrier, India’s largest and most powerful electric SUV yet, is currently generating a lot of buzz.

According to Tata Motors, such is the craze for Harrier EV that the waiting period for this car has now exceeded seven months. Because of this, it is still uncertain whether the Harrier EV will be showcased at the 2025 NADA Auto Show that kicks off in Kathmandu on August 19.

Sipradi Trading, the official distributor of Tata in Nepal, is not in a mood to bring the car for display purpose only. The Harrier EV will be brought and displayed at the Auto Show only if we are allowed to begin sales, an official of Sipradi Trading told MeroAuto.

Launched in India in June, the Harrier EV has gained a lot of attention for its design and powerful performance. Many Nepalis have added it to their waiting list after a video showing the Harrier EV climbing India’s “Elephant Rock” with ease.

Here we present five key features of the Harrier EV :

Feature Packed EV
Despite the dominance of Chinese EVs in Nepal, the Harrier is certain to stand out as a unique product. This is because there is no direct competitor to the Harrier in its segment in the Nepali market yet. The Harrier EV comes equipped with a 14.53-inch QLED infotainment system by Samsung which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has a 10.25-inch digital driver information display, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and a digital interior rearview mirror.

To cater to young consumers, it includes a JBL sound system with 10 speakers, a 360-degree camera, digital key, built-in dashcam, and ventilated and powered front seats. Cabin features like power boost mode, Level 2 ADAS system, connected car tech, ambient lighting and auto-park assist add to its appeal.

Battery Size and Warranty
The Harrier EV comes with LFP battery pack options of 65 kWh and 75 kWh. In India, Tata offers a lifetime warranty on the battery (15 years with unlimited kilometers). The company is expected to provide lifetime warranty in Nepali market as well.  According to the company, the battery charges from 10% to 100% in about 10.7 hours using a 7.2 kW AC fast charger. With a DC charger supporting up to 120 kW, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 25 minutes.

Range
Tata Motors claims that Harrier EV can travel up to 627 kilometers on a single charge. The rear-wheel-drive variant with a 65 kWh battery pack has a certified range of 538 kilometers, while the 75 kWh battery variant offers a driving range of 627 kilometers. The all-wheel-drive version with the 75 kWh battery delivers a range of 622 kilometers.

Motor Power and Speed
The Harrier EV features a rear-mounted 175 kW motor that generates 238 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive model, on the other hand, has a 291 kW motor producing 396 horsepower and 504 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 180 km/h.

Off-road Capability
The Harrier is India’s only large-sized all-wheel-drive electric SUV. It features an ultra-glide rear suspension setup and frequency-dependent dampers that provide smooth driving over bumps. It has six driving modes: Normal, Snow/Grass, Mud Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl and Custom. The car also has a low-speed cruise control system that maintains a speed of 5 km/h. The driver can also view the vehicle’s underside on the front screen, thanks to a 540-degree camera system.
