KATHMANDU: Foton has brought its new hybrid pickup, the Tunland V9, to the Nepali market. The model is part of the Tunland series and is positioned as a full-size premium pickup.
MAW Vriddhi, the authorized distributor of Foton in Nepal, has introduced the Tunland V9. The company has not yet started official sales. The pickup is currently under testing.
The Tunland V9 has a towing capacity of 3.5 tons. Its dimensions reflect its full-size profile. The pickup is 5,617 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, and 1,910 mm tall. It has a long 3,355 mm wheelbase.

The pickup offers 240 mm ground clearance. It gets a 28-degree approach angle, a 21-degree breakover angle, and a 26-degree departure angle. These figures support off-road use.
Foton says the Tunland V9 can wade through water up to 700 mm deep. It comes with a four-wheel-drive system and 18-inch multi-terrain tires for better handling.
The exterior design is bold and rugged. The front features a large grille and streak quad LED headlamps. The suspension setup includes a double wishbone at the front and a multi-link rigid axle at the rear.
The cabin is designed to match SUV-level comfort. It gets premium seats and a 14.6-inch touchscreen on the dashboard. Wireless connectivity features are included. Safety features include airbags and other standard systems.

The Tunland V9 uses a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine. The engine produces 163 PS at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,400 rpm.
MAW Vriddhi said pricing will be announced soon. Sales will begin after the testing phase is completed.
