KATHMANDU: The IM 6 luxury crossover from IM Motors has been spotted testing in Kathmandu.

Paramount Motors brought a few models of IM 6 manufactured by IM Motors, a luxury brand of Chinese automotive giant SAIC Group, into Nepal before the budget speech. The company has not said anything about its launch in the domestic market.

The IM 6 features an advanced AD smart driving assist system, which, the company claims, is 6.7 times safer than human driving. The car is built on SAIC’s proprietary Lizard Digital Chassis. It comes loaded with intelligent features, including high-precision LiDAR, Nvidia’s Drive Orin chip, and a smart cockpit based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA-8295P platform. According to the company, its autonomous parking assistance system uses over 300 parking sensors.

The IM 6 being introduced in Nepal is a rear-wheel drive variant, powered by a 216 kW electric motor producing 450 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 75 kWh ternary lithium battery.

Although the company has not officially announced its price, the valuation listed for customs purposes is Rs 9.799 million.

Paramount Motors is reportedly preparing to launch a version with a motor under 200 kW in Nepal.
