KATHMANDU: Mahindra’s popular electric vehicles (EVs), the BE 6 and XEV 9e, which were launched in India in November last year, are set to debut in Nepal soon.

Agni Incorporated, Mahindra’s official distributor in Nepal, has announced that demo units of both models will arrive in Nepal within a month. The company is currently reviewing specifications intended for international markets.

“Once the demo units arrive, we will evaluate their performance on Nepali road conditions. Commercial sales are likely to begin before the Nepal Mobility Expo,” said Cabinet Shrestha, chairperson of Agni Group – the parent company of Agni Incorporated.

Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) is organizing the Nepal Mobility Expo 2025 at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, on August 6-10.

These two models will strengthen Mahindra’s EV lineup in Nepal which currently includes only the XUV400 EV.

 BE 6

Designed for younger buyers, the BE 6 boasts a futuristic look and advanced features, including a blind spot monitoring system, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, heads-up display, inbuilt maps, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility. Its spacious cabin offers seats with lumbar-support and ventilation, and sufficient headroom and legroom. The dashboard design enhances its modern appeal.

The vehicle uses the battery supplied by FinDreams, a BYD subsidiary, and comes in 59 kWh or 79 kWh battery options. It offers a claimed range of 682 km, though the WLTP range is likely to be around 550 km. In India, it features a 210 kW rear-wheel-drive motor. Motor capacity for Nepal has not been confirmed yet.

 XEV 9e

The XEV 9e, which is larger than the BE 6, includes all the features available on BE 6 and shares the same 207 mm ground clearance. It sports three 12.3-inch dashboard screens and a high-performance infotainment system powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, 24 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The coupe-style design of XEV 9e incorporates a flat-bottom steering wheel, wireless charger, LED lighting, flush door handles, a panoramic sunroof and 19- or 20-inch wheel options.

Like the BE 6, it offers 59 kWh or 79 kWh battery and 170 kW or 210 kW motors. Both models support 175 kW DC fast charging which takes only 20 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%.

Expected Pricing

In India, the BE 6 and XEV 9e are priced in the range of 1.9–3.05 million Indian rupees. In Nepal, they might be available in the range of Rs 6-9 million.
