KATHMANDU: Even though auto loan interest rates are low, people still need to make a large down payment to buy electric cars. Recently, NRB reduced the loan-to-value ratio for EVs from 80 percent to 60 percent. However, Jagdamba Motors, the official dealer of Proton, is offering the Proton eMAS-7 with the lowest interest rate and just a 20% down payment.
The Proton eMAS-7 , a compact SUV, has been available since last month. It offers a 4.99% interest rate on loans. A 20% down payment is enough to purchase the car.
The company is offering two variants of the eMAS-7 . The price for the Prime variant is NPR 5,69,000, and the Premium variant is priced at NPR 6,79,000.
The eMAS-7 comes with two different battery sizes. The Prime variant has a 49.52 kWh battery, and the Premium variant has a 60 kWh battery.
The car’s exterior gives it a strong SUV feel. The cabin has a minimal design with lots of features. The smaller battery offers a range of 345 km, while the larger battery can go 410 km, as confirmed by the WLTP test.
The eMAS-7, made by the Chinese Geely Group, is a strong competitor in the market. The company’s current offers are expected to attract more customers.
