KATHMANDU: Indian automobile giant Mahindra is road-testing the pickup truck variant of its popular SUV, the Scorpio N.

The vehicle is being tested in both single-cab and double-cab models. Images of test models capture by Indian automobile enthusiasts show that the Scorpio N pickup will be larger than the SUV. It will measure approximately 5.3 meters in length and will come equipped with all-terrain capabilities.

The Scorpio N pickup test models feature an upright front fascia, slatted grille design, distinctively shaped headlamps with DRLs, a flat bonnet, traditional door handles, a shark-fin antenna and steel wheels. The wheels appear to be 18-inch, fitted with tires suited for off-road and rough terrain.

The test model differs significantly from the Global Pik Up concept based on Scorpio N that Mahindra showcased in 2023.

Like the Scorpio N SUV, the pickup version will also be built on a ladder-frame chassis. Its suspension system will be designed not only for off-road performance but also for carrying heavy loads. A 4×4 option will definitely be available.

The test model, however, differs significantly from the Global Pik Up concept based on Scorpio N that Mahindra showcased in 2023.

The Scorpio N Pickup will come with a 2.2-liter diesel engine, tuned in two different ways, as well as an optional 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Transmission options will include both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, as per Indian media reports.
