KATHMANDU: MG Majestor has set a new Guinness World Records title for the heaviest train pulled by an SUV on rails.

The Majestor pulled a 406.4-tonne train over a distance of 300 feet. This surpasses the previous record of 400 tons over 100 feet. The attempt was conducted on a secured railway section between Kakapora and Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir.

The company used a stock production model for the record run. The train included a WAG-9HC locomotive, passenger coaches, and a guard coach. No external propulsion was used during the attempt.

All parameters such as weight, distance, and track conditions were verified under official Guinness protocols.

The Majestor is scheduled to launch on April 20. It will be offered in Sharp 4×4, Savvy 4×2, and Savvy 4×4 variants, with both 6- and 7-seat options.

The SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine. It produces 213 BHP and 478 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4×4 system with locking differentials.
