KATHMANDU: Toyota has officially unveiled the new Land Cruiser FJ, a compact addition to its legendary SUV lineup. The model will make its public debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 and is expected to go on sale in Japan around mid-2026.

As the smallest member of the Land Cruiser family, the FJ blends classic toughness with a modern and practical design. It comes with a boxy shape, wide fenders, and removable corner bumpers that make repairs and customization easier.

Built on the IMV platform, the FJ offers strong off-road capability with ground clearance similar to the 70 Series, a shorter wheelbase (2,580 mm), and a tight 5.5 m turning radius for better maneuverability.

Power comes from a 2.7-liter petrol engine (2TR-FE) producing 120 kW and 246 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic and part-time 4WD system.

Inside, Toyota has focused on visibility and control, featuring a horizontal dashboard, low beltline, and Toyota Safety Sense package. The FJ will also support various customization options, including MOLLE panels and retro-style round headlights.

Toyota says the new model aims to deliver “Freedom & Joy” for customers who want the Land Cruiser experience in a smaller, more accessible package.
