KATHMANDU: The next-generation Audi RS5 has leaked online ahead of its official debut. Audi had released a teaser video, but images of both the sedan and Avant versions surfaced on social media before the reveal.
The new RS5 replaces the RS4 as Audi’s performance leader in this segment. It will be offered in both sedan and Avant body styles and is positioned as a direct rival to the BMW M3.
Although based on the A5, the RS5 features a dedicated RS body kit. It appears longer, wider, and lower than standard models, while retaining a 2,900 mm wheelbase.

At the front, it gets a redesigned bumper with a large grille and prominent cooling intakes. The front and rear fenders are wider, and Audi has reshaped the rear doors instead of simply modifying existing panels. Sculpted shoulders give it a classic Quattro-inspired look.
The rear design is equally sporty. It features a large diffuser, dual oval exhaust tips, and an F1-style brake light. The sedan comes with a lip spoiler, while the Avant adds a roof spoiler. Exterior trim elements can be finished in gloss black or carbon fiber. The alloy wheels feature a new six double-spoke design.
Inside, the RS5 gets Alcantara upholstery, RS badges, and red buttons on the steering wheel. The digital setup includes an 11.9-inch instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and a 10.9-inch passenger display. Unique RS graphics are also expected.
Audi has confirmed that the new RS5 will use a plug-in hybrid setup. It is expected to pair a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine with electric motors. Combined output is likely to exceed the 362 hp produced by the mild-hybrid S5.
The model will ride on Audi’s PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture. Suspension and braking systems are expected to be upgraded to handle the additional performance.
Once launched, the RS5 will compete not only with the BMW M3 but also with the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance. The Mercedes model is also expected to move towards an electrified six-cylinder setup in future versions.
The official debut of the new RS5 sedan and Avant is expected soon.
