KATHMANDU: BYD says its assisted driving technology has significantly reduced serious accidents across its vehicle lineup, according to media reports.

The company said its intelligent driving system is now available in more than 60 vehicle models and nearly 3 million vehicles globally.

According to BYD, severe accident rates have dropped to one-sixth of normal human driving levels, based on airbag-triggered incidents per 10 million kilometers driven.

The data was shared by BYD Group Senior Vice President Yang Dongsheng during the 13th Intelligent Connected Vehicle Technology Annual Conference held in Shanghai on May 21, 2026.

BYD said it began large-scale deployment of its Level 2 assisted driving system in early 2025. The system is now available in almost all passenger vehicles sold by the company.

The automaker also claimed that parking-related scratches and minor collisions have fallen to around one-fiftieth of normal human driving levels with its parking assistance system.

BYD’s ‘God’s Eye’ intelligent driving platform uses AI models, reinforcement learning, and real-world driving data to improve performance. The company says it processes around 190 million kilometers of driving data daily and updates algorithms every three days.

BYD also highlighted features including high-speed tire blowout control, low-grip road stability, and emergency vehicle stabilization within 200 milliseconds through coordinated motor and chassis control.
