KATHMANDU: Nissan has revealed the sixth-generation Micra, designed as a fully electric vehicle. Built on the AmpR Small platform co-developed with the Renault 5 EV, the new Micra is Nissan’s latest addition to its all-electric future lineup.

Designed at Nissan Design Europe in London, the Micra EV features a bold, modern look with SUV-inspired styling. It sports circular LED daytime running lights encasing rectangular headlamps, black body cladding, a contrasting blacked-out roof and 18-inch alloy wheels available in three unique designs.

At the rear, a sleek gloss-black strip integrates the Nissan badge and LED taillights. The lighting system also offers animated “welcome” and “farewell” sequences for added flair.

The cabin has a driver-focused layout with a dual-tone finish and two 10.1-inch digital displays—one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation. The center console, angled toward the driver, includes physical controls below the air vents for ease of use.

The electric Micra will be available in 40 kWh and 52 kWh battery options, delivering 122 hp of power and up to 308 km of range (WLTP), and 150 hp of power and up to 408 km of range (WLTP), respectively.

Additional features include a wireless charging pad, electronic parking brake, 48-color ambient lighting, 326 liters of boot space, and a unique Mount Fuji-inspired design element in the center storage compartment. The infotainment system comes integrated with Google services via Nissan Connect.

Despite its compact size—under 4 meters long and less than 1.8 meters wide—the Micra EV offers a spacious interior with a maximum cargo capacity of up to 1,106 liters.

The EV will be available in two battery options: a 40 kWh variant delivering 122 hp of power and up to 308 km of range (WLTP) and a 52 kWh variant delivering 150 hp of power and up to 408 km of range (WLTP). The two variants support fast charging up to 80 kW and 100 kW, respectively, allowing a 15% to 80% charge in about 30 minutes.

The Micra EV also includes vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, enabling it to power external devices, which makes it ideal for outdoor or emergency use.

The Micra EV will be produced at Renault’s Douai facility in France. The car is expected to be launched in Europe by late 2025.

Internal combustion engine (ICE) versions of the Micra have been available in Nepal since 2013. Nissan’s LEAF, introduced by Pioneer Moto Corp in 2021, was Nepal’s first mass-market EV. Although originally launched globally in 2009, updated models of LEAF have not been made available in the Nepali market. It is not clear whether the Micra EV will be launched in Nepal.
