KATHMANDU: Nissan has introduced the new Frontier Pro pickup in China, with prices ranging from USD 23,800 to USD 35,000.

It is the first Nissan model fully designed, developed, and manufactured in China for global markets.

The lineup includes fuel and PHEV variants. The fuel model gets Nissan’s V-Motion design. The PHEV adopts a more modern EV-inspired look.

The pickup is large in size. It is 5,520 mm long, 1,960 mm wide, and 1,950 mm tall. The wheelbase is 3,300 mm. The cargo bed measures 1,520 x 1,600 x 490 mm. Some trims get an electric soft-down tailgate.

Inside, the Frontier Pro offers a digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen. Physical buttons are still included. Higher trims get a 12-speaker JLA audio system and soft-touch materials.

Engine choices include a 2.0T petrol with 258 hp and 400 Nm and a 2.3T diesel with 190 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Both use an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The PHEV combines a 1.5T engine with a front electric motor. It delivers 320 kW and 800 Nm. It has a 4-speed DHT gearbox. The pure electric range is 135 km under CLTC.

The Frontier Pro is made by Zhengzhou Nissan, Nissan’s first full-vehicle joint venture and LCV R&D base in China. The company, now a Dongfeng subsidiary, makes pickups, SUVs, and cars for both Nissan and Dongfeng.
