Our reflections as Hyundai Nepal

The past few days have been unlike anything we imagined. The sudden outburst of emotions and unrest has left behind painful scenes. When I first saw the damages to our own property, it hurt deeply. But honestly, that pain is nothing compared to the loss of families who had built their hopes for future generations.

Alongside this, we also saw history itself being harmed – monuments and institutions like Singha Durbar and the Supreme Court, which carry the spirit of our nation, now marked in a dark chapter.

In just two days, Nepal lost far more than buildings or business. We lost trust, a sense of safety, and pieces of our heritage. At this moment, the first thing we need to do as human beings is accept this reality and try to rebuild harmony with each other. The trauma is everywhere – in children, youth, adults, and the elderly – and it has touched all of us in one way or another.

The real question is, can we now come together and move forward?

As Hyundai Nepal, our belief has always been simple: people come first. Now the time has come for us to evolve, to rethink, and to rise again. Rebuilding is not only about putting up walls or repairing showrooms, it is also about preparing ourselves for a future of self-dependency.

We believe Nepal can and should grow its own strength – starting small, learning technology, and slowly making “Made in Nepal” a reality. Yes, we were broken too. Our own property was brought to its knees, but we knew our responsibility was greater than the pain we carried.

Mobility was still a necessity, and our team – our technicians, staff, and service family – did everything possible to support. From bringing damaged vehicles back on the road, to protecting cars from further harm, to consoling and assuring customers that their vehicles could be healed, we stood by them. These efforts may seem small, but for us, they mean much more. They reflect what Hyundai has always stood for: being with our people in the hardest of times, even when we ourselves were hurting.

From the very beginning, Hyundai Nepal has believed in pariwar – family. Today, that family feels even stronger and closer. And as we move forward, our commitment remains the same: to stand with Nepal, to grow with Nepal, and to take small but sure steps toward a future that is truly “Made in Nepal.”
