KATHMANDU: More than 100,000 units of motorcycles were imported into the country over the first seven months of 2025.
According to the Department of Customs, a total of 100,256 units, including both assembled and unassembled units, from over a dozen brands were imported during the period.
Motorcycles from over two dozen brands are available in the Nepali market.
Bajaj dominated the Nepali market in the review period. The Indian company accounted for more than 50% of Nepal’s total motorcycle imports in the seven-month period.
Customs data shows 54,931 Bajaj bikes, or 54.78% of total imports, entered the country between January and July. Hansraj Hulaschand & Company, the authorized distributor for Bajaj in Nepal, sells popular models including the Pulsar series, Dominar, Avenger and Discover in the Nepali market.
Hero ranked a distant second with 12,545 units imported in the review period. The Indian company accounted for 12.51% of Nepal’s total motorcycle imports. CG Motors, the authorized distributor for Hero in Nepal, has been selling Xpulse, Splendor, Super Splendor and Xtreme motorcycles from Hero stable in the Nepali market.
Other brands accounted for relatively small import volumes. Austrian adventure bike brand KTM imported 522 units, followed by Suzuki (108 units), Zongshen (45 units), Zuumav (45 units) and CFMoto (35).
Yamaha secured third place with total imports of 10,222 units in the review period. This represents 10.19% of the country’s total motorcycle imports. MAW Ride, which represents Yamaha in Nepal, sells the FZ, R15, MT15, Saluto, XTZ and WR models in the Nepali market.
TVS ranked fourth in the seven-month period. Customs data shows Jagdamba Motors, the authorized TVS distributor in Nepal, imported 8,500 TVS units during the period. Popular TVS models in Nepal include the Apache RTR series, Raider, Ronin, and Stryker.
Royal Enfield took the fifth position with 7,562 units imported in the review period. Alpha Automotive, the authorized Royal Enfield distributor in Nepal, has been selling Royal Enfield models like the Classic 350, Hunter, Meteor and Himalayan.
Japanese two-wheeler maker Honda came sixth with 5,710 units imported in the seven-month period. Shine remains the company’s most popular model in the Nepali market.
Other brands accounted for relatively small import volumes. Austrian adventure bike brand KTM imported 522 units, followed by Suzuki (108 units), Zongshen (45 units), Zuumav (45 units) and CFMoto (35). Other brands imported a combined 40 units.
