KATHMANDU: Indian yogi and spiritual leader Sadhguru set off from Gorakhpur, traveling through Bhairahawa and Kathmandu to Kailash Mansarovar.

First-ever solo motorcycle trip to the sacred site, a historic milestone. He began his journey from Gorakhpur, riding through Bhairahawa and Kathmandu before heading towards the sacred site.
He rode a Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak. It is a high-performance adventure touring motorcycle with a 1262cc Testastretta DVT engine. The bike produces 158 horsepower and 95.5 lb-ft of torque.  After crossing the Butwal–Narayanghat road in the Daunne section, Sadhguru stated,

“Well, I think we have passed the most treacherous terrain, construction in the mountains, 16–20 km of a bit dicey riding. We are not exactly riding 450cc bikes to fly through. Heavy motorcycles that do great on paved roads are not great on slush. It’s not very hard but a little tricky. Especially these 16 km must have taken an hour to negotiate and involved a little bit of wrestling with the handlebar.”

Sadhguru arrived in Kathmandu at around 5 PM on Sunday. He delivered a short sermon to his disciples at a gathering in Lalitpur’s Ekantakuna.

A lifelong passion for Motorcycles
Sadhguru’s love for motorcycles began at the age of 18 when he bought his first bike, a Yezdi Roadking. Growing up in Mysore, home to the Jawa/Yezdi factory, he formed a deep connection with two-wheelers.
Over the years, he has been seen riding both retro classics and modern sport-tourers. His rides have included the BMW K1600 GT, Ducati Multistrada 1260, Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled and Honda VFR.

Motorcycles as a tool for change
Sadhguru, a modern-day mystic, is known for his global initiatives and transformative motorcycle journeys. His most notable ride was the SaveSoil campaign in 2022, covering 30,000 km in 100 days across 27 nations, reaching over 3.2 billion people.
The journey led to soil health agreements with 14 countries.

He also completed a 10,000-mile ride across the United States to explore the nation’s spiritual heritage, a journey featured by Forbes.
Another major expedition was the Cauvery Calling ride—3,500 km on a Honda VFR

For Sadhguru, motorcycles are “moving billboards for change.” As he explains,

“We’re using both motorcycles and music to connect with people so that 3.5 billion citizens understand the soil crisis.”

Sadhguru has a long-standing connection with Nepal, where he has many followers. In September 2021, he visited Humla district in Karnali Province to view Mount Kailash from a closer point, as direct access from Tibet was restricted due to the pandemic.

From the roar of the BMW K1600 GT to the charm of a Yezdi, every ride he carries a message, that adventure can serve a higher purpose.
