KATHMANDU: TAG Heuer has launched the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1, a limited-edition watch inspired by modern hypercars. Only 30 units will be produced.

TAG Heuer is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded in 1860 and is known for its precision sports chronographs used in motorsports.

The Air 1 uses Grade 5 titanium, formed through Selective Laser Melting, a process also used in aerospace and high-end automotive manufacturing. This hollowed titanium structure keeps the watch extremely light at 86 grams. The square case measures 41 mm with a thickness of 15.2 mm.

TAG Heuer says the design reflects hypercar engineering. The caseback features an exoskeleton layout and a honeycomb mesh, similar to engine covers found in performance cars.

The dial uses sapphire crystal, with accents of 2N yellow gold.

Inside the watch is TAG Heuer’s Caliber TH81-00. It runs at 36,000 bph and offers a 65-hour power reserve. With the chronograph active, the reserve remains around 55 hours. Water resistance is limited to 30 meters, so it is only safe from splashes.

The price is as dramatic as the design. The Monaco Air 1 costs 150,000 Swiss francs, roughly $186,000. TAG Heuer calls it one of its most advanced creations, built with the same mindset used to engineer high-performance cars.

Only a few collectors will ever see one in person, let alone own it.
