KATHMANDU: Tata Motors has confirmed that its Avinya premium electric vehicle range will debut by the end of 2026, marking the company’s entry into the premium EV segment priced around 4 million Indian rupees.
The first model under the Avinya family will be an electric SUV. The Avinya series will be built on Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform and is expected to compete with premium EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said the Avinya project is intended to highlight India’s capabilities in premium electric mobility, focusing on advanced technology and design.
Tata Motors has committed an investment of Rs 16,000 to Rs 18,000 crore between FY2025 and FY2030 to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, develop new platforms, and strengthen the EV ecosystem.
The company is targeting a 45 to 50 percent share of the electric passenger vehicle market.
In addition to the Avinya electric SUV, Tata Motors plans to launch the Sierra EV and an updated Punch EV in the coming year.
