KATHMANDU: Toyota has released an early look at its upcoming three-row SUV, highlighting a modern and tech-forward interior.

Last week, the company revealed the SUV’s rear design with a boxy silhouette and full-width LED light bar. On Monday, Toyota shared interior details and vehicle audio, signaling a move towards a high-tech family SUV that could be fully electric.

The cabin appears more upscale than Toyota’s current bZ series, featuring a large central touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, captain’s chairs, and a panoramic sunroof. The design leans towards minimalism, with a clean dashboard layout.

Toyota has not confirmed the SUV’s official name or specifications. There have also been reports of an electric Highlander in development. Toyota has said it is building a family-oriented electric SUV for the U.S. market at its Kentucky plant, with launch timing pushed to 2026.

Software is expected to be a highlight. Toyota’s latest vehicles, such as the new RAV4, use the Arene software-defined vehicle platform, offering customizable displays and advanced voice control.

The upcoming SUV may adopt similar or more advanced software and electrical architecture.

If the new model is fully electric, it will enter a competitive segment with rivals like the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, Cadillac Vistiq, and Rivian R1S.

Toyota faces pressure to catch up in EV technology but benefits from strong brand trust in key markets. Toyota is scheduled to fully unveil the SUV on Feb. 10.
