KATHMANDU: Yamaha has introduced the EC-06 electric scooter in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 168,000 Indian rupees. In the first phase, it will be sold in Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore.

The EC-06 shares its core architecture with the River Indie and carries a similar overall design. It features a rectangular headlamp, a flat footboard, and a single-piece seat layout.

On the feature front, the Yamaha EC-06 gets a color LCD instrument cluster, reverse assist, and three riding modes: Eco, Standard, and Power. It also offers a 24.5-liter under seat storage compartment.

Powering the scooter is a 4 kWh battery paired with an electric motor producing 6.7 kW and 26 Nm of torque. Yamaha claims a top speed of 79 km/h and a range of up to 169 km.

The battery can be charged up to 80 percent in around 8 hours. Braking is handled by 200 mm disc brakes at both ends, supported by a Combi Brake System.

The Yamaha EC-06 is backed by a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty on the battery.
