KATHMANDU: Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn has unveiled three new electric vehicle models as it looks to expand its contract vehicle manufacturing business, according to Nikkei Asia.

The new models include the Model K, Model K+ and Model A+. Each vehicle is designed for different market segments.

The Model K is a compact commercial vehicle inspired by Japan’s kei trucks. It can also be configured as a delivery van with a cargo compartment. The vehicle will be available with two driving range options of 120 km and 250 km, depending on the motor configuration.

Foxconn’s Chief Strategy Officer for its EV business, Jun Seki, said the company plans to offer the Model K at a competitive price.

The Model K+ is an SUV variant featuring a rear high-speed motor and front in-wheel motors. Its four-wheel-drive system is designed to improve performance in snowy conditions.

Meanwhile, the Model A+ is an SUV version of Foxconn’s compact passenger car, the Model A. It features higher ground clearance, larger tires and pillar-less sliding doors to provide a more spacious cabin.

The Model A+ is also equipped with 24 sensors, including LiDAR and cameras. These systems support advanced autonomous driving functions.

Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, develops its own EV platforms using shared architectures, powertrains and operating systems. The company then customizes these platforms according to customer requirements and manufactures vehicles on their behalf.
