KATHMANDU: Xiaomi has officially confirmed Sky Nomad as the name of its new automotive brand dedicated to spacious and comfort-focused vehicles. The brand will be known as Xiaomi Pengcheng in Chinese, with its first model set to be the N90, a full-size SUV featuring an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain.

The company has already launched an official Sky Nomad page on WeChat and has begun promoting the new brand through digital advertising across China. While detailed information is yet to be released, the move confirms Xiaomi’s plans to expand beyond its current battery-electric vehicle lineup.

The new brand follows Xiaomi Auto’s successful entry into the automotive industry with the SU7 electric sedan, followed by the SU7 Ultra performance sedan and the YU7 electric SUV.

According to Chinese media reports, the Sky Nomad N90 will use a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender that generates electricity rather than driving the wheels directly.

The SUV is expected to feature a battery pack larger than 70 kWh, delivering an estimated 400 to 500 km of pure electric driving range. Combined with the range extender, the total driving range is expected to exceed 1,500 km.

The N90 measures around 5.3 meters in length and has a 3.1-meter wheelbase. It is likely to be offered in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations.

Spy images suggest the N90 will feature a bold SUV design with block-style headlamps, a large trapezoidal front intake, roof-mounted LiDAR, and electrically deployable side steps.

More technical details are expected to be announced closer to the official launch in 2026.
