KATHMANDU: BYD ATTO 2 has crossed the 1,000-unit mark within four months of its entry into the Nepali market, according to official import data.

Cimex Inc., the authorized distributor of BYD in Nepal, said it has imported a total of 1,074 units of the ATTO 2 in the past four months. The ATTO 2 was launched at the NADA Auto Show 2025, and the figure includes imports completed up to January 15, 2026.

Importing more than 1,000 units in such a short period is considered a significant achievement in Nepal’s electric vehicle market. The model has now joined BYD’s high-performing lineup alongside ATTO 3 and Dolphin.

Market observers attribute the ATTO 2’s performance to BYD’s established brand image and local network. Key factors include BYD’s Blade Battery technology, Cimex’s nationwide sales and service network, expanding charging infrastructure, and the brand’s global track record in EVs.

The BYD ATTO 2 is positioned as a compact electric SUV and is equipped with a 51 kWh Blade Battery, a 100 kW electric motor, and peak torque of 290 Nm. It has a claimed WLTP range of 345 km and offers 200 mm of ground clearance.

The relatively high ground clearance, combined with a balanced driving range, has been cited as a practical advantage for Nepal’s road conditions.

The ATTO 2 is priced at Rs 4.399 million in Nepal. Its pricing has made it one of the more accessible electric SUVs in the segment.
