KATHMANDU: The next-generation Hyundai Creta has been spotted testing for the first time in South Korea. This marks the beginning of development for the third-generation model.
The test mule was heavily camouflaged. Still, the shape suggests a full redesign. The body looks slightly longer and more upright. The stance appears more squared than the current model, according to media reports.
Heavy camouflage on the front and rear hints at major design changes, including new lighting elements and a sharper overall look.

Internally codenamed SX3, the third-generation Creta is expected to be manufactured in India, with a launch planned for 2027.
Hyundai is expected to retain current engines for South Asian market. These include the 1.5-liter petrol, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel. Manual and automatic gearboxes will continue.
A strong hybrid variant is also expected, as Hyundai has already confirmed plans to expand its hybrid lineup.
The new Creta is expected to offer more features. This includes larger screens and updated software. ADAS is likely to be improved. Connected car tech will also be upgraded.
Interior quality is expected to see an upgrade, with the layout likely following Hyundai’s latest global design language.

New platform, bigger size
The 2027 Creta may share its platform with the new Kia Seltos. This means a safer and more rigid structure. Use of high-strength steel is expected to increase.
The SUV is expected to grow in length, potentially becoming the longest in its segment, with a likely increase in ground clearance.
The Creta Electric will continue alongside the ICE variants, with a facelift expected around 2027. Updates may include refreshed design, additional features, and possible improvements in range.
