KATHMANDU:Hyundai has confirmed that its upcoming midsize SUV for India will be called Bayon.
The name is inspired by Bayonne, a city in France’s Basque region. Hyundai says the name reflects the SUV’s character and its global design philosophy.
The new SUV has already been spotted testing in India. It features an upright stance and a traditional SUV silhouette, with flared wheel arches, dual-tone alloy wheels, roof rails and a sloping rear windscreen.
At the front, the Bayon gets split headlamps with L-shaped LED daytime running lights and a rectangular air intake. The rear is expected to feature LED tail lamps, potentially connected by an LED light bar.
The interior is expected to feature a dual-tone layout with a curved dual-screen setup. It is also likely to get a two-tone steering wheel and circular door handles.
Hyundai’s new SUV is expected to sit between the Venue and Creta in the company’s Indian line-up. It will compete in the midsize SUV segment and is expected to go on sale during the upcoming festive season.
