KATHMANDU: The Government of Uttar Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AVW Global to bring MotoGP back to India. The agreement aims to revive international motorcycle racing events in the country, according to Autocar India.

AVW Global is a motorsport events and advisory firm founded by former Karel Abraham. The company has been evaluating venues for the return of MotoGP to India, with the Buddh International Circuit identified as the primary location since it previously hosted the race.

According to Abraham, India offers strong potential for motorsport growth. He stated that the event could help attract sponsors, develop local racing talent, and strengthen the country’s presence in global motorcycle racing.

In addition to MotoGP, AVW Global also plans to bring the Asia Road Racing Championship to India. Ron Hogg, Promotions Director at Two Wheels Motor Racing, said the championship could start racing in India as early as July or August 2026.

Manoj Kumar Singh, CEO of the State Transformation Commission, said the partnership will help restore professional motorcycle racing in the country. He noted that motorsport fans across India are eager to see international racing machines return to the track.

Singh also stated that Uttar Pradesh plans to fully utilize the Buddh International Circuit and develop a broader motorsport ecosystem in the state, focusing on youth participation and long-term racing infrastructure.
