KATHMANDU: France, Germany and the United Kingdom released a joint statement condemning what they called indiscriminate and disproportionate missile and drone attacks by Iran against countries in the Middle East.
They urged Iran to stop the attacks immediately and said they were ready to defend their interests and those of their allies. They also said they would work with the United States and partners in the region on defensive measures.
The three governments said the strikes threatened civilians and service personnel and targeted nations not involved in earlier operations by the United States and Israel.

At the same time, tensions in the region have affected vital energy infrastructure.
On 2 March 2026, Saudi Arabia’s state oil company Saudi Aramco shut down its Ras Tanura oil refinery, one of the world’s largest facilities, after it was struck by reported drone attacks.
Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed two drones near the site, causing debris to start a fire. There were no reported injuries, and local fuel supplies were said to be unaffected.
The shutdown came amid broader waves of drone and missile strikes across the Middle East following recent US and Israeli military actions and Iran’s retaliation. Energy markets reacted to the disruptions, with prices rising on concerns about supply and security.
Analysts say these developments reflect a sharp escalation in regional tensions and pose risks to global energy supplies. Leaders in Europe and beyond are calling for restraint while preparing to protect strategic interests, according to global media reports.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has warned Iran it will respond if attacks on its oil facilities continue.
