KATHMANDU: The Skoda Kylaq, the brand’s entry-level SUV, delivers a strong driving experience with a clear European feel. Measuring just under four meters in length, the Kylaq continues Skoda’s design and engineering approach under the Volkswagen Group.
Powered by a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine, the Kylaq produces 114 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque. The performance feels adequate for Nepali road conditions, offering a balanced mix of power and efficiency.
The SUV comes with 189 mm of ground clearance, making it capable of handling rough roads and light off-road terrain. During a test drive from Kathmandu to Kakani and further east from Kakani Chowk, the vehicle performed well even on uneven and damaged road sections.
The Kylaq is available with both manual and automatic transmission options, each featuring a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of safety, the model has received a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test. It also comes equipped with six airbags as standard.
The Skoda Kylaq is priced between Rs 4.59 million and Rs 7.09 million in the Nepali market.
