KATHMANDU: The Beijing Auto Show 2026 concluded on May 3 after a 10-day run. The event attracted 1.28 million visitors, making it one of the largest auto shows globally.
Held under the theme “Driving the Era, Smart Future,” the show was organized at two venues. These include the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi) and the Capital International Exhibition Center. The total exhibition area covered 380,000 square meters across 17 halls.
A total of 1,451 vehicles were displayed at the event. This included 181 global debuts and 71 concept cars.
The show saw participation from 21 countries and regions. Around 65,000 international visitors attended the event. More than 32,000 media representatives were present, including over 4,000 from global outlets.
During the show, 219 press conferences were held. The event also hosted more than 50 industry forums and summits.
The exhibition highlighted electrification and intelligent mobility. Several companies showcased next-generation battery technology. Some systems claimed energy density above 400 Wh/kg and range of over 1,500 km under test conditions.
Fast-charging solutions were also presented. These include charging in under 10 minutes and performance in extreme cold conditions.
In smart driving, companies demonstrated advanced systems including AI-based platforms and Level 3 autonomous driving in controlled environments. LiDAR and ADAS features were widely seen in new models.
Among major highlights, BYD showcased the Yangwang U9 Xtreme electric supercar. The model was priced at around USD 2.76 million, making it the most expensive production car under the brand.
The event featured a wide range of EVs, hybrids, and performance models. Both established brands and new entrants used the platform to unveil new products.
The 2026 edition confirmed China’s growing dominance in EV technology. Automakers focused on electrification, autonomous driving, and performance upgrades.
The Beijing Auto Show continues to expand in scale and technology. It is now considered the largest auto show in the world by size and vehicle display.
