KATHMANDU: Bajaj has launched an updated version of the Platina ES motorcycle in Nepal, now equipped with a fuel-injection (FI) engine.

The new Platina 100 ES variant was introduced by Hansraj Hulaschand & Company, the authorized distributor for Bajaj in Nepal, at the ongoing Grand Exchange Carnival in Bhrikutimandap.

The company has set the price of the new Platina 100 ES at Rs 249,900, compared to Rs 218,900 for the previous version.

Bajaj is promoting the new model under the theme “Petrol Sughaye Pugchha,” highlighting its fuel efficiency. The company claims the motorcycle delivers a mileage of over 70 km per liter.

With an 11.5-liter fuel tank, Bajaj states that the Platina can travel more than 800 km on a full tank under ideal conditions.

The update mainly includes new graphics and minor feature enhancements. The biggest change is the shift from a carburetor to an FI engine setup.

The motorcycle is powered by a 99.59cc DTS-i, single-cylinder, four-stroke, two-valve engine. It produces a maximum power of 8.2 PS and 8.3 Nm of torque. It comes with a 4-speed gearbox and has a claimed top speed of 90 km/h. Bajaj also claims consistent performance and mileage across temperatures ranging from -5°C to 50°C.

New features include refreshed dual-tone graphics, a charging port, O2 sensor, and a check engine light.

Despite being an entry-level model, the Platina comes with an electric start system. Design updates include a sleeker rear panel and a black silencer with a chrome heat shield.

The motorcycle also features a blue-tinted headlamp with LED DRL for improved night visibility. It is built on a tubular single down tube frame with a lower cradle, and uses telescopic front forks and SNS rear suspension. Other features include drum brakes on both wheels, alloy wheels, long seat, and standard braking system.
