KATHMANDU: Tata Motors has revealed the updated Tiago and Tiago EV ahead of their launch in India on May 28.
The new Tiago gets a much sharper design than before. Tata has given both models a front look inspired by the Tata Altroz. The hatchback now comes with slimmer LED headlamps, eyebrow-style DRLs and a redesigned bumper.
The petrol-powered Tiago gets a black grille and sportier styling. The Tiago EV features a body-colored closed grille with a cleaner front design.
From the side, the car now gets new dual-tone alloy wheels, black ORVMs, shark-fin antenna and black roof treatment. Tata has also added thicker wheel arch cladding to give the hatchback a stronger road presence.
At the rear, the updated tail lamps now feature LED detailing with a connected-light style design. The black strip between the lamps makes the car look wider and more modern.

Tata has not fully revealed the cabin yet. However, the facelift is expected to bring updated graphics for the instrument cluster, new seat upholstery and a refreshed interior theme. The 10.25-inch infotainment system introduced earlier is likely to continue.
One of the biggest additions is the new 360-degree camera system. Camera units can be seen below the ORVMs. Other expected features include automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless smartphone connectivity, auto headlights, auto wipers, TPMS and rear parking sensors with camera.
Reports also suggest Tata could offer six airbags as standard across the lineup.
Mechanically, the Tiago range is expected to remain unchanged. The petrol version will continue with the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 86 PS and 113 Nm torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.
The Tiago EV is also expected to retain its existing battery options. The 19.2 kWh battery pack currently offers a claimed range of 223 km, while the larger 24 kWh pack delivers up to 293 km.

The updated Tiago petrol is expected to be priced between 480,000 Indian rupees and 800,000 Indian rupees. Rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Suzuki WagonR.
The Tiago EV could be priced between 820,000 Indian rupees and 115,000 Indian rupees. It will continue competing with the MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3.
The Tata Tiago EV is one of the popular compact electric hatchbacks in Nepal and is distributed by Sipradi Trading. The facelifted model is also likely to launch in Nepal soon.
