KATHMANDU: Nepal’s motorcycle market is seeing renewed growth after a slowdown following the Covid pandemic. Demand for two-wheelers has picked up in recent months, driven by rising fuel prices and increasing living costs.
Buyers, especially students, office workers, and mid-income families are now focusing on affordable motorcycles that offer good mileage and low running costs. In response, major brands like Hero, Bajaj, TVS, Yamaha, and Honda are offering a wide range of models under Rs 400,000.
These motorcycles come with modern features, updated styling, and engine options ranging from 100cc to 200cc, catering to both daily commuters and young riders.
Here is a quick overview of the 39 motorcycles available from five brands, highlighting only the lowest and highest-priced models in each lineup:
Hero
Hero, through CG Motors, offers nine motorcycles under Rs 400,000, including commuter-focused Splendor models and sportier Xtreme variants.

The most affordable model in the lineup is the Splendor Plus BS4 priced at Rs 217,900, while the highest-priced option is the Xtreme 160R 4V FI at Rs 389,900.
Bajaj
Bajaj has the largest lineup with 11 variants under Rs 400,000, including models from the Pulsar, Discover, Avenger, and Platina series. The brand continues to appeal to both performance-focused riders and those seeking high mileage for daily use.

The most affordable option is the Platina ES Old priced at Rs 218,900, while the highest-priced models are the Avenger 160 and Pulsar N150, both available at Rs 389,900.
TVS
TVS also offers 11 motorcycles under the Rs 400,000 price range, including performance-oriented Apache RTR models and practical commuter options like the Radeon and Striker.

The most affordable motorcycle in the lineup is the Radeon priced at Rs 234,900, while the highest-priced model is the Apache RTR 160 4V SE at Rs 394,900.
Yamaha
Yamaha offers four motorcycles under Rs 400,000 in Nepal, mainly from the FZ and Saluto lineup, which are known for their styling and smooth engine performance. The most affordable model is the Saluto priced at Rs 282,900, while the highest-priced options are the FZ FI V3 BS6 Standard and FZS FI V2, both available at Rs 384,900.

Honda
Honda offers four commuter-focused motorcycles under Rs 400,000, known for their reliability, refined engines, and strong resale value.
The most affordable model in the lineup is the Shine 125 Drum priced at Rs 282,900, while the highest-priced option is the SP125 Disc at Rs 313,900.
