KATHMANDU: Hero MotoCorp has approved an additional investment of US$117 million in electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy. The investment will be made through a preferential allotment of new shares or convertible securities, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.

Hero MotoCorp currently holds a 29.48 percent stake in Ather Energy on a fully diluted basis, as of June 30, 2026. The company said the fresh investment will be made entirely in cash and is expected to be completed within 15 days after Ather receives the required approvals.

The final shareholding of Hero MotoCorp will be determined once Ather finalises the terms of the preferential allotment.

According to the company, the funds will support the development and manufacturing of smart electric vehicles, as well as charging infrastructure, battery technology, energy storage, power distribution and energy management solutions.

Hero MotoCorp described the transaction as a strategic investment in its long-term associate company. Ather Energy designs and manufactures electric scooters while also operating a fast-charging network and providing battery and energy management services, writes ET.
