KATHMANDU: Construction of an Acrow bridge over the Tadi River at Devighat in Nuwakot has been completed. The Nepal Army built the temporary bridge after the concrete bridge at the site was washed away by the Bhotekoshi flood on August 26.
Prime Minister Balen Shah’s press adviser Deepa Dahal said the bridge has been completed and will be opened for pedestrians from today. Vehicle movement will resume from tomorrow.
The Nepal Army started installing the bridge on Sunday and completed the work in five days. A technical team of 55 army personnel was deployed for the construction.
The bridge is 60 meters long and 5.5 meters wide. It has a load-carrying capacity of 50 tons.
With the new bridge in place, road connectivity along the Galchhi-Bidur section, which had been disrupted for the past two weeks, will resume. The reopening is expected to provide relief to local residents, traders and passengers.
