KATHMANDU: Changan Group’s Nevo Q05 is currently open for bookings in Nepal. MAW Vriddhi has brought the electric SUV to Nepal under the Deepal Nevo Q05 name.
We drove the Nevo Q05 through different parts of Kathmandu to get a closer look at what it offers.
The first thing that stands out is its size for the price. The top-spec Q05 is available for booking at Rs 4.999 million. At this price, it is easy to see why the Q05 can be considered a large SUV for the money.
Size matters
The Q05 may look compact from the outside at first glance. But once you get inside, it feels much bigger. The SUV measures 4,435 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height. It gets a 2,735 mm wheelbase. The boot offers 540 liters of space. Folding the rear seats increases the capacity to 1,380 liters.
It also has 190 mm of smart ground clearance. Even on some of the rough roads we drove on, the underbody did not scrape the ground.
In terms of size, the Q05 has an advantage over similarly priced SUVs. It directly competes with SUVs priced around Rs 5.5 million to Rs 6 million.
Clean and modern design
The Q05 has a clean and aerodynamic design. The front gets a minimal look, while the rear has a sportier appearance.
It features a Digital Wing DRL, full-width lighting, a 0.265 drag coefficient, Star Ring tail lights and ambient lighting. These elements are more than just features. They reflect Deepal’s design philosophy.
Battery and range
The battery is one of the most important parts of an electric vehicle. The Q05 uses a CATL-made Golden Shield battery, which is claimed to offer a life of up to 5,000 cycles.
The 51.9 kWh LFP battery delivers a claimed range of up to 360 km on a single charge. The Q05 gets a 120 kW motor, making it one of the most powerful SUVs in the Deepal family.
The battery supports DC fast charging of up to 162 kW. This makes the Q05 suitable for quick charging during long journeys. A 30 to 80 percent charge takes just 15 minutes.
How easy is it to drive?
Driving an SUV is not just about the steering. Modern EVs also use ADAS features to assist the driver. The key is how quickly and smoothly these systems respond.
The Q05 gets features such as blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic braking, safety exit assist and emergency lane-keeping assistance.
These features genuinely make driving easier. The cabin also feels more premium than expected. A large screen, panoramic roof and multiple ambient lighting options add to the overall experience.
A luxury cabin is not only about big features. Small details for both the driver and passengers also matter. This is where the Q05 performs well. It gets ventilated seats, reclining seats and a well-insulated cabin that keeps outside noise away.
Other features include a power tailgate, large glovebox, rear AC vents, wireless charger, a separate charger for the car key, cup holders with grips and a soft-touch dashboard.
