KATHMANDU: Sipradi Yatri, the maker of Nepal’s first locally manufactured electric scooter, has announced the price of the Yatri P2. The entry-level variant with a 3 kWh battery has been priced at Rs 3,29,900.
The company has priced the 3.7 kWh variant at Rs 3,99,900 and the top-spec 5.2 kWh variant at Rs 4,99,900.
Sipradi Yatri had unveiled the P2 and opened bookings at the NADA Auto Show held last month. According to the company, customers who booked the scooter at NADA will receive the 3.7 kWh and 5.2 kWh variants between mid-October and November, while the entry-level 3 kWh variant will become available from December, when all variants will be on sale.
The Yatri P2 has been developed keeping Nepal’s varied roads and terrain in mind, with its design, research and development, and manufacturing all carried out entirely within Nepal.
The P2 is powered by a 10 kW motor, the most powerful among electric scooters currently available in Nepal. It comes with three battery options: 3 kWh, 3.7 kWh and 5.2 kWh.
Range varies depending on the battery size. The top-spec 5.2 kWh battery delivers a claimed 157 km on a single charge, while the 3.7 kWh battery offers 112 km and the 3 kWh battery offers 90 km, according to the company.
An optional 1.8 kWh range-extender battery pack can also be added for an extra 50 km of range, which applies across all variants.
Yatri says the P2 is the first scooter in its segment to come with a DC fast charger. The 3.3 kW fast charger can charge the scooter up to 80 percent in just 41 minutes.
The scooter also charges quickly using a home charger, reaching 80 percent in 2 hours 50 minutes, compared to the 4 to 7 hours typically needed by other scooters to reach a full charge.
The Yatri P2 comes with a 7-inch TFT display that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Its battery management system, which powers the real-time energy meter and smart display, is certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
The scooter has a 1,390 mm wheelbase, which helps keep it more stable and balanced at higher speeds or on uneven roads, while also providing more legroom for a comfortable ride.
It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels with a ground clearance of 175 mm, a useful feature given Nepal’s varied terrain and rough road conditions.
Other features on the P2 include Mountain Hold, fall detection, smart charging mode, multi-level regenerative braking, regenerative braking hill-hold, cruise control, anti-theft notifications and motor lock.
The company says customers can customize the scooter’s battery, charging capacity, app features and color according to their needs and preferences. Sipradi Yatri is offering an 8-year or 80,000 km warranty on the P2’s battery.
