KATHMANDU: The Bagmati Province government has introduced a provision to waive taxes on vehicles that were lost. The new rule is part of the ‘Finance Act 2082’ announced for the current fiscal year.
As per the new provision, vehicle owners will not have to pay taxes, renewal fees or fines for the period during which their vehicle was missing.
To benefit from this, vehicle owners need to follow two steps.
First, they must apply for renewal at the Transport Management Office. While applying, they must submit a police recommendation letter confirming the vehicle was lost. They also need to provide proof that the vehicle’s record was officially impounded at the Transport Office.
Once both documents are submitted, the tax and renewal charges during the lost period will be fully waived, as stated in the Finance Act.
