KATHMANDU: BYD has launched the new Atto 8 (Sealion 8) at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show. The SUV comes with major upgrades in performance, design, and driver-assistance tech. It is available in six variants, priced from around 30,250 USD to 38,620 USD.
The updated Atto 8 keeps BYD’s Dragon Face styling. The front design is sharper, and a lidar unit is added on the roof for better intelligent driving. The tail lamps come in two designs inspired by Chinese culture. The cabin has a clean layout with layered surfaces and bamboo-wood trim.
All models come with BYD’s DiPilot 300 laser-based driver-assistance system. The SUV is offered in both plug-in hybrid (DM) and full-electric (EV) versions.
The EV version offers stronger performance. The top model has dual motors that produce 810 kW combined power. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. All EV variants use a 100.5 kWh LFP blade battery. The driving range is 560 km, 600 km, or 670 km, depending on the model.

The EV models also support up to 1,000 kW fast charging. BYD claims this can add about 370 km of range in five minutes. The SUV also gets the new DiLink 150 software with adaptive brightness, seasonal themes, and interactive mascots.
A new feature allows the car to move from one parking spot to another on its own.
A right-hand drive (RHD) version of the BYD Sealion 8 (Atto 8) is likely planned, with BYD confirming a 2026 launch in Australia, while reports suggest it “could” also come to Malaysia.
