KATHMANDU: Skoda’s sub-four-meter SUV, the Kylaq, is set to go on sale in Nepal. Skoda MAW Carrier, the brand’s official distributor, will introduce the model as the most affordable Skoda SUV produced in India.
The model features an attractive design built under the company’s Modern Solid Design Language. The combination of its front lighting elements and grille gives the SUV a distinctive look.
The Kylaq comes with LED daytime running lights and a split headlamp cluster. It uses a slim grille with pronounced bonnet creases, while the rear tail lamps adopt a T-shaped layout.
Like other India-built rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Nissan Magnite, the SUV measures 3,995 mm in length. It offers a 2,566 mm wheelbase.
The Skoda Kylaq also stands out with a generous ground clearance of 189 mm. The inclusion of 17-inch wheels, roof rails, and cladding enhances its SUV stance.
Inside, the dashboard layout closely resembles that of the Kushaq. The AC vents, climate control panel, two-spoke steering wheel, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, and 10-inch infotainment screen are nearly identical to the Kushaq’s cabin.

In its top variant, the entry-level Skoda SUV offers a single-pane sunroof, keyless entry, wireless phone charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, and leatherette upholstery.
Built by a European manufacturer, the Kylaq has secured a 5-star safety rating in India NCAP crash tests. It includes six airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control, and an electronic differential lock.
Powering the model is Volkswagen Group’s 1.0-liter three-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine, also used in the Kushaq. It produces 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque.
Skoda has confirmed that the Kylaq will be available in Nepal in seven variants. Four of these will pair the engine with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the remaining three will use a 6-speed torque-converter automatic.
The company plans to launch the base manual variant at around Rs 4.5 million, while the automatic variant is estimated to start near Rs 5.5 million.
The Skoda Kylaq can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds. The small-displacement turbo engine is also expected to deliver excellent fuel economy.
