KATHMANDU: Errors in personal details on driving licenses can now be corrected online in Nepal.
The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has added the new service to its Electronic Driving License and Vehicle Registration System (EDLVRS). The new online system was launched on July 17, and the license correction facility has recently been added.
With this service, drivers no longer need to visit a transport office to correct minor errors in their personal details. The process can now be completed through the online system.
According to the department, users can correct details such as their first name, surname, date of birth, parents’ names, permanent address, phone number and email address.
However, the department has said that the corrected details must match the information on the applicant’s National Identity Card.
How to correct errors online
First, users need to open the new EDLVRS website of their respective province. Each of the seven provinces has a separate portal. On the homepage, click on ‘License Correction Application’ at the bottom left.
Users then need to enter their name, National Identity Card number, National Identity Card photo, driving license number, mobile number and email address.
After clicking ‘Continue’, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to proceed.
Users can then access the dashboard and select the details they want to correct. These include their name, surname, date of birth, parents’ names, permanent address, phone number and email address.
After entering the corrected details, users must confirm that all the information they have submitted is accurate. They can then click ‘Submit Update Request’.
The system will show the details being updated for final confirmation. If any information is incorrect, users can cancel the request. If everything is correct, they can click ‘Yes, Submit’.
The application will then be sent to the relevant transport office through the online system. Officials will verify the submitted information and approve the request.
Once the application is approved, the updated license details will be reflected in the online system.
