Electric car costing less than Rs 1 million now in Nepal

KATHMANDU: A new electric vehicle (EV) priced under Rs 1 million is now available in the Nepali market.

Himalayan EV Pvt Ltd has introduced the ENNIU Raptor mini car in the Nepali market with the introductory price of just Rs 950,000. The company is also offering cash coupons raging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 100,000 with every purchase.

The Raptor is a compact four-door, four-seater electric car. Manufactured in Shandong, China, the Raptor mini car measures 2,900 mm long, 1,380 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall, and has a 2,000 mm wheelbase. It has a ground clearance of 165 mm.

A built-in generator gives Raptor a range-extender feature allowing the battery to be recharged while driving. It has a five-liter petrol tank to power the generator.

According to the company, the mini car is powered by a compact 12.5 kW motor that produces 100 Nm of torque. It uses 6 kWh LFP battery pack, which, according to the company, offers a range of up to 120 kilometers on a single charge. A built-in generator gives the car a range-extender feature allowing the battery to be recharged while driving. It has a five-liter fuel tank to power the generator. The battery can be fully charged in approximately five hours.

The Raptor also comes equipped with modern features such as disc brakes on all four wheels, independent suspension, air conditioning, reverse camera with sensors, LCD display, digital instrument cluster, two-way brake lock system and roof-mounted electric ventilation.

Himalayan EV offers a 2-year warranty on the motor and a 3-year, or 30,000 km, warranty on the battery.

The company has opened its showroom at Uttardhoka, Kathmandu.
