KATHMANDU: The more affordable Comfort variant of the Maxus eTerron 9 electric pickup has officially gone on sale in Nepal. Himalayan Motrux, the authorized distributor of Maxus in Nepal, has introduced the new variant.
The Maxus eTerron 9 Comfort is priced at Rs 8.8 million. The introductory price is available to the first 50 customers, according to the company. It is Rs 4 million cheaper than the Premium variant, which is currently priced at Rs 12.8 million.
The lower price comes with some feature deletions. The Comfort variant misses features such as a sunroof, massage seats, air suspension and a 360-degree camera.
The eTerron 9 comes with a large 102.2 kWh battery pack. It offers a claimed range of up to 560 km on a full charge under the NEDC cycle.
The electric pickup features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. It produces a combined 325 kW of power and 700 Nm of torque. The front motor produces 125 kW, while the rear motor delivers 200 kW.
The eTerron 9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 190 km/h.
The battery supports up to 115 kW DC fast charging. It can charge from 20% to 80% in around 42 minutes. The pickup also gets a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function.
The Maxus eTerron 9 measures 5,500 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width and 1,860 mm in height. It has a 3,300 mm wheelbase and 250 mm ground clearance.
The pickup offers a 1,050 kg payload capacity. Its towing capacity stands at 3,500 kg. The cargo bed measures 1,561 mm × 1,500 mm × 535 mm.
Inside, the five-seat pickup gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. Other features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
It also gets a multifunction microfiber leather steering wheel and rear AC vents. USB and Type-C charging ports are available for passengers. Keyless entry and start, automatic headlights and wipers, and one-touch power windows are also offered.
Safety features include three visual reversing cameras, front and rear parking sensors and cruise control. The pickup also gets front airbags, ESP, EBA, All-Terrain Mode and Auto Hold.
The Maxus eTerron 9 has received a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
The pickup has a 29-degree approach angle and a 25-degree departure angle. It uses double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension.
With its high ground clearance, long driving range and powerful all-wheel-drive system, the eTerron 9 Comfort could be well suited for Nepal’s challenging roads. It is particularly aimed at customers looking for an electric pickup for hilly and mountainous terrain.
