KATHMANDU: Chinese automotive giant Dongfeng Group, which is known for its partnerships with Japanese brands like Honda and Nissan as well as European marques such as Renault and Peugeot, has opened bookings for its latest EV, the Nammi Vigo.

MAW Vriddhi, which represents Dongfeng’s Nammi brand in Nepal, unveiled the electric SUV during the NADA Auto Show 2025, which kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday. We had the chance to test drive the Vigo before its official launch across various locations in Kathmandu. Here is what we found.

Despite its boxy, rugged SUV appearance, the Vigo drives like a compact city car—smooth, agile and surprisingly light. The front and rear bumpers, supported by large wheel arches, bold body cladding and a high stance, give off an off-road-ready vibe.

From the steering wheel and seats to the dashboard, infotainment system and gear selector, everything in the Vigo feels smart, modern and in line with current trends. As the second Nammi model in Nepal, following the success of the Nammi 01, branded as Nammi Box in Nepal, the Vigo has already generated buzz in the market. Many potential buyers are eager to experience this electric SUV firsthand.

The SUV is powered by a 99kW motor, which delivered impressive performance during our test ride. Its handling is light and effortless, making it ideal for Nepal’s diverse road conditions. The driving experience is refined, whether you are navigating city traffic or tackling hilly terrain.
