KATHMANDU: The Ora 5 electric SUV is set to enter Nepal with a strong focus on pricing. The company plans to position it as a value-driven product in the growing EV market.

According to a source at VG Impex, the official distributor of Great Wall Motors, the company is preparing an aggressive price strategy. The final price will depend on upcoming budget policies and tax revisions. If tax rates remain unchanged, the SUV is expected to launch at an attractive price.

Two variants of the Ora 5 have already arrived in Nepal. Both versions are similar in most aspects. Differences are mainly in features like a sunroof and wireless charging.

Although the official price is yet to be announced, the Ora 5 is expected to debut within the range of Rs 4.5 million to Rs 5 million. This places it in a highly competitive compact SUV segment.

The Ora 5 will compete with models such as BYD Atto 2, MG S5, Omoda E5, Leapmotor B10, Deepal S05, Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE.6, and Tata Curvv EV. Its unique design could attract buyers looking for something different.

The Ora 5 is powered by a 58.3 kWh LFP battery produced by SVOLT. It offers a WLTP-certified range of over 430 km on a full charge. The SUV uses a 99 kW electric motor.

Inside, it features a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other highlights include a flat-bottom steering wheel, physical buttons, wireless charger, and a 1.65 sqm panoramic sunroof. The seats are designed for comfort and give a premium feel.

In terms of size, the SUV measures 4471 mm in length, 1883 mm in width, and 1641 mm in height. It has a 2720 mm wheelbase, which supports better cabin space. The car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.

The design includes circular headlamps at the front and LED tail lamps at the rear. A roof-mounted LiDAR system is also available. The styling is inspired by the Ora 3, especially at the rear. It features a smart spoiler and conventional door handles.

The Ora 5 comes with 27 sensors, including roof LiDAR, in the compact EV segment. It also gets GWM’s ‘Coffee Pilot Ultra’ advanced driving assistance system.
