KATHMANDU: Seven new models are set to join the country’s already competitive mid-range segment — dominated by cars priced between Rs 4.5 million and Rs 6 million — within the next three weeks.
This segment currently features models like the MG S5, BYD Atto 3 (Advanced), Omoda E5, Kaiyi X3 Pro and Seres 3. Now, brands such as Jaecoo, Deepal, BYD, Leapmotor, and Dongfeng’s sub-brands Nammi and Forthing are preparing to launch new models targeting this price-sensitive but fast-growing category.
These brands are showcasing their new models during the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo and NADA Auto Show. Here is a look at key features and estimated prices of these models:
Jaecoo J5
SPG Automobiles, the official distributor of Omoda/Jaecoo, will display two new models, including the Jaecoo J5, which has already arrived in Nepal, within the next three weeks. Dubbed the ‘Mini Land Rover’, the Jaecoo J5 is powered by a 155 kW motor and a 58 kWh battery. It is a front-wheel-drive model and is estimated to be priced around Rs 5.5 million.

Deepal S05
Another crossover SUV that has already landed in Nepal is the Deepal S05. The car comes with a 99 kW electric motor and a 57 kWh battery. MAW Vriddhi, the authorized distributor of Deepal in Nepal, is expected to launch the car with a price tag in the range of Rs 5.5-6 million.

Leapmotor B10
Leapmotor’s second SUV, the B10, was recently unveiled to the media. It boasts a 160 kW motor and a sizable 67 kWh battery. Shangrila Motors, the authorized Leapmotor distributor in Nepal, is expected to price the top variant of the B10 between Rs 5.5 and 6 million.

Nammi 06
MAW Vriddhi, which represents Dongfeng Nammi in Nepal, will formally unveil this compact SUV during the NADA Auto Show. Its top variant features a 99 kW motor and a 51 kWh battery. The car is expected to be priced below Rs 5 million.

Forthing Friday
Laxmi e-Mobility, the authorized distributor for Dongfeng Forthing in Nepal, is unveiling the Friday SUV at the Nepal Mobility Expo. Equipped with a 99 kW motor and a 64 kWh battery, the car is expected to cost around Rs 6 million.

BYD Atto 2
BYD Atto 2 is expected to feature a 100 kW motor and a 51.3 kWh Blade Battery. Though official details are yet to be released, Cimex Inc, BYD’s authorized distributor in Nepal, is expected to price it around Rs 4.5 million. The car sits between the Dolphin and the Atto 3 in the international market.

iCar V23
Also expected to be launched during the Nepal Mobility Expo, Chery’s iCar V23 will be brought to Nepal by SPG Automobiles. The compact SUV is expected to come with a 100 kW motor and a 59 kWh battery. Although the company has not made pricing and other details public, it is expected to be priced in line with other mid-range SUVs available in Nepal. It is also not clear whether the car will come with Jaecoo or iCar badging.
