Three automakers set to unveil affordable electric hatchbacks at NAIMA Mobility Expo

KATHMANDU: The upcoming NAIMA Mobility Expo 2026 will feature several new electric vehicles, with three brands preparing to introduce affordable electric hatchbacks in Nepal. The expo is scheduled to begin from August 11 and will focus on new models ahead of the festive season.

Brands including MG Motor, Wuling Motors, Omoda, Jaecoo, Hyundai Motor Company, Mahindra & Mahindra, Honda, Toyota Motor Corporation, Leapmotor, Proton and others are participating in the event.

Among them, Proton, BAIC Group’s Arcfox and Wuling Motors are preparing new affordable EV hatchbacks. These models are expected to be priced below Rs 4 million.

The three key models include the Proton e.MAS 5, Arcfox T1 and Wuling Mini EV 4-Door.

Wuling Mini EV 4-door

The four-door version of the Wuling Mini EV is expected to enter Nepal with a price below Rs 2 million. The electric hatchback measures 3,256 mm in length, 1,510 mm in width and 1,578 mm in height, with a 2,190 mm wheelbase.

The compact EV comes with a rear-wheel-drive system and a 30 kW electric motor. It is expected to be available with two battery options, including a 16.2 kWh and a 25.1 kWh battery pack.

Arcfox T1

The Arcfox T1 will be introduced by Laxmi Group’s EV division. It is positioned as a premium hatchback with a length of 4,337 mm, width of 1,860 mm, height of 1,572 mm and a 2,770 mm wheelbase.

The model is expected to come with two battery options, including a 33.4 kWh and a 42.3 kWh pack. The company claims the battery can charge from 30 to 80 percent in around 17 minutes.

The Arcfox T1 will feature advanced safety equipment, including Level 2 ADAS, a 540-degree camera system and automatic parking. The price is expected to remain below Rs 4 million.

Proton e.MAS 5

The Proton e.MAS 5, to be launched by Jagadamba Motors, will compete in the electric hatchback segment. The model is based on the Geely EX2 platform, which has gained popularity in China.

The e.MAS 5 is expected to come with two battery options. The Prime variant will feature a 30.12 kWh battery, while the Premium variant will get a 40.16 kWh battery pack. It can charge from 30 to 80 percent in around 21 minutes.

The hatchback will include features such as a 360-degree camera, ADAS and six airbags. The model is expected to be priced below Rs 4 million, making it one of the major launches in the affordable EV segment.
