KATHMANDU: Rapid growth in technology has made the auto sector smarter and more digital. Modern cars now come with features like parking assist, 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring, automatic braking, and even self-driving functions.
Two-wheelers are also improving with features such as ABS, slipper clutch, traction control, cornering ABS, quick-shifter, and cruise control.
Cruise control, once found only in cars, is now available in two motorcycles sold in Nepal. Out of more than 100 models from many brands, only the KTM Duke 390 and KTM Adventure 390 offer this feature.

These bikes are distributed by Hansraj Hulaschand & Co. in the Nepali market. The Duke 390 is priced at Rs 9, 49,900, while the Adventure 390 costs Rs 10, 74,900.
Both motorcycles include modern features such as Bluetooth connectivity, traction control, quick-shifter, slipper clutch, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple riding modes, dual-channel ABS, and cornering ABS, with the Adventure also offering adjustable suspension.

The Adventure 390 uses a 398.63cc SOHC engine, and the Duke 390 uses a 399cc DOHC engine, with both producing 39 Nm of torque. The Duke delivers 45 PS of power, and the Adventure produces 46 PS. Both use a steel trellis frame that keeps the bikes light and easy to handle.
What is cruise control?
Cruise control keeps the motorcycle at a steady speed without the rider needing to hold the throttle. It reduces hand fatigue and makes long highway rides more comfortable.
The rider can activate or deactivate the system using handlebar buttons and adjust settings through the TFT display.
In Nepal’s hilly terrain, cruise control helps maintain a stable speed on long highway sections, making the ride smoother and safer.
