KATHMANDU: Volvo Buses has introduced the Volvo BZR Electric, a new electric coach chassis with a battery capacity of up to 720 kWh. It can travel up to 700 km on a single charge, making it suitable for long trips with fewer charging stops.
The chassis comes in two- or three-axle versions and can be fitted with four to eight battery units. This flexible design allows operators to choose between shorter routes or maximum range.
The BZR Electric is designed for long-distance, intercity, tour and charter services. It can be charged using 250 kW CCS or 450 kW OppCharge systems and is equipped with Volvo’s latest safety features. “It enables new routes and gives operators greater versatility,” said Anna Westerberg, President of Volvo Buses.

The first unit has already been built by Carrus Delta for customers in the Nordic region (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland) and the Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg).
Volvo Buses operates in more than 70 countries worldwide. Its products include electric city buses, articulated and bi-articulated chassis and electric coach chassis, supported by a wide range of services.
The company also has a strong presence in India, where it entered the market in 2001 and started local production in Bangalore in 2008. Today, it is a leader in luxury intercity coaches and city buses.
