4 Compact SUVs priced under Rs 4.5 million in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Buyers planning to purchase a compact SUV under Rs 4.5 million now have multiple options in Nepal’s growing EV market. Several Chinese brands are offering feature-rich electric compact SUVs in this price range, with driving ranges exceeding 300 km on a single charge.

Models from Dongfeng Nammi, Kaiyi, MG Motor, and BYD are currently available below Rs 4.5 million, offering competitive specifications and modern technology.

The Nammi VIGO is the first compact SUV introduced in Nepal under the Dongfeng Nammi brand and has gained popularity for its attractive design and practical features. It is available in two variants. The entry-level E2 variant is priced at Rs 3.999 million, while the higher-spec E2 Plus variant costs Rs 4.299 million. The E2 comes with a 44.94 kWh battery, whereas the E2 Plus features a larger 51.87 kWh battery pack. Both variants are powered by a 99 kW electric motor.

The Kaiyi X3 Pro EV, distributed in Nepal by Laxmi E-Mobility and GO Automobiles, is officially priced at Rs 4.696 million. However, it is currently being offered at a discounted price of Rs 3.996 million under ongoing schemes. The X3 Pro EV is equipped with a 53.6 kWh CATL-supplied LFP battery. Initially launched with a 120 kW motor, the model is now also available with a 99 kW motor option.

The MG S5 EV Deluxe variant is available at Rs 4.399 million. The model features a sharp exterior design, independent rear suspension, and a rear-wheel-drive layout. In Nepal, the S5 EV Deluxe comes with a 99 kW motor paired with a 49.1 kWh LFP battery. The model has already crossed 1,000 units in imports within less than a year.

Similarly, the BYD Atto 2 has gained strong traction in the Nepali market. Initially launched at Rs 4.399 million, the company recently increased its price by Rs 100,000, bringing the new price to Rs 4.499 million.

The Atto 2 is powered by a 100 kW electric motor and is equipped with BYD’s well-known 51 kWh Blade Battery. The model has also surpassed 1,000 units in sales, reflecting growing consumer confidence in the brand.
