KATHMANDU: The electric car market in Nepal is changing quickly. Pricing continues to shape consumer demand. Earlier, large EVs were usually priced between Rs 5 and 6 million.
Later, models like the BYD Atto 3 and Deepal S07 pushed the market toward the Rs 7.5 to 8 million range.
Now, the Rs 4 to 5 million segment has become the most active. The MG S5 played a major role in expanding this category. It’s pricing between Rs 4.3 and 4.9 million helped it gain strong market share, encouraging more brands to join the segment.
Models such as the Vigo (Nammi 06) and BYD Atto variants are now available in this price band. Proton has reduced the price of the e.MAS 7 from Rs 5.7 million to 4.7 million. Price adjustments remain the key driver behind this shift.
Entry variants of the Deepal S05 and Leapmotor B10 have also launched below Rs 5 million. Both models arrived before Dashain. Other options like the Kaiyi X3 Pro and Tata Nexon K3 also sit in this segment. Import data for the current fiscal year shows strong demand for compact SUVs priced under Rs 5 million.

New competitors are on the way. The iCaur V23 will launch soon, with sales starting in the last week of December. SPG Automobile has confirmed a price below Rs 4.7 million.
Leapmotor and Deepal are also preparing new models for this segment. Their upcoming products, now in final stages in China, are expected to reach Nepal by next September.
