KATHMANDU: SPG Automobiles, the official distributor of Omoda, Jaecoo, and iCar vehicles from the Chery Group in Nepal, is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with products across multiple price segments.

The company, part of the Sarada Group, currently offers electric SUVs priced between Rs 5.199 million and Rs 6.999 million. It is now preparing to enter the more affordable segment with a new hatchback expected to be priced below Rs 4 million.

At present, SPG sells the Omoda E5 at Rs 5.199 million for the single-tone variant and Rs 5.249 million for the dual-tone version. The iCaur V23 is priced at Rs 5.399 million, while the Jaecoo J6T costs Rs 6.999 million.

The company is also preparing to introduce the iCaur V27 range-extended electric vehicle (EREV), which is expected to be priced above Rs 18 million.

At the lower end of the market, SPG plans to launch the first hatchback under Chery Group’s QQ brand. The model is expected to make its Nepal debut at the upcoming NAIMA Mobility Expo, with an estimated price below Rs 4 million.

With this strategy, SPG aims to build a portfolio that covers the mass-market hatchback segment, mid-priced electric SUVs, and premium EREV models.

Multiple battery and powertrain options

SPG’s current SUV lineup offers different battery sizes and motor outputs to suit a wider range of buyers.

The Omoda E5 is equipped with a 50.7 kWh battery and a 99 kW electric motor. The iCaur V23 features a 59.93 kWh battery paired with a 100 kW motor, while the Jaecoo J6T comes with a larger 65.69 kWh battery and a more powerful 135 kW motor.

The varied battery capacities and motor options allow customers to choose a vehicle based on their driving needs and budget.

Expanding sales and service network

Alongside its growing product lineup, SPG is also investing in its nationwide sales and after-sales network.

The company has been expanding its dealerships, service centres, and charging infrastructure in major cities including Pokhara, Butwal, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Narayanghat, Biratnagar, and Birtamod.

As Nepal’s EV market continues to grow beyond the Kathmandu Valley, a wider service and charging network is expected to strengthen the company’s position.

Imported over 1,200 SUVs in one year

SPG imported 1,206 electric SUVs into Nepal during the last fiscal year.

The iCaur V23 was the company’s best-selling model, accounting for 512 units. The Omoda E5 followed with 294 units, while 212 units of the Jaecoo J5 and 189 units of the Jaecoo J6T were imported.

The figures reflect SPG’s growing presence across different EV segments in Nepal.

Now eyes sub-Rs 4 million EV market

Having established a strong position in the SUV market, SPG is now targeting the affordable EV segment through the upcoming QQ hatchback.

The move will broaden the company’s product portfolio and allow it to reach a larger customer base. With vehicles spanning multiple price points and brands, SPG is positioning itself to strengthen its presence in Nepal’s rapidly growing electric vehicle market.
